BR 2-14 The Ant and the Grasshopper

I read “The Ant and the Grasshopper”. I have read before, but I want to read again. So I chose this book. I am going to write an summary of this book now.

Long time ago, there was a grasshopper who liked to sing and play. Also there was an ant who was very hard worker. One day, the grasshopper said the ant to come and play with me. But the answered “no”, because he had to prepare for winter. When winter came, the grasshopper had no food because he had been playing all summer. On the other hand, the ant rested comfortably in their homes with all the foods they need.

After I read it, I think that working hard is very important for our life. If we want to rest comfortably later, we should work hard.

BR 2-13 The Sun and the Wind

I read “The Sun and the Wind”. I like this story and recommend to children. I want to read this in English for my children when I become mother. So I tried to read this.

Long time ago, the sun and the wind were arguing about which was stronger. They decided that whoever could take off a traveler’s coat was the strongest. The wind was first and he blew an icy wind at the traveler. However traveler only snuggled deeper into his coat. Next was the sun. He was warming and lighting and glory. Soon the traveler took off his coat and the sun won.

After I read it, I think that the book was interesting afresh because I cannot generate idea that the sun and the wind were arguing. I think that Aesop who written by it was a genius in fairy tale.

BR 2-12 Icarus

I read “Icarus”. I had heard he name, but I didn’t know what he did. So I chose this book. I am going to write a summary of this book now.

There lived a man named Daedalus in the island of Crete. One day, Daedalus had angered King Minos because he had told the king’s daughter the secret to the Labyrinth. The king locked him with his son, Icarus. The island is difficult to leave because the king watches the sea. Daedalus made two beautiful sets of wings. They could fly easily by the wings. However these wings are machines and so they can break and the heat of thesun will melt the wax. So Daedalus advised Icarus but he forgot his father’s word quickly. Next day, Daedalus and Icarus flew out of the Labyrinth. Icarus flew higher, so he wax in his wings began to melt. A few minute later, he felt the sea.

After I read it, I think that we have to hear whatever person advised for us, or we can succeed. I don’t want to be like Icarus.

BR 2-11 Brer Rabbit and the Tar Baby

I read “Brer Rabbit and the Tar Baby”. I am going to write an summary of this book now.

Once upon a time, there was a fox and a rabbit. The fox was always trying to catch the rabbit. One day, the fox made figure of tar. When the rabbit saw the figure of tar, he talks to that. However the figure of tar did not say word. So the rabbit was angry and punched the figure of tar in the face and his paw sank into the tar. The fox appeared and tried to roast the rabbit. The rabbit said that do anything you want but please just don’t throw him into the briar patch. But the fox wanted to cause as much pain as he could to the rabbit, so he threw the rabbit into the briar patch. But the rabbit was born in the briar patch, so he was indifferent.

After read the book, I think that when people try to hurt anyone, they cannot succeed. If there was any kind of reason, I think people do not have to hurt.

BR 2-10 The Pied Piper of Hermelin

I read book which title is “The Pied Piper of Hermelin”. I have heard it title but I didn’t know the story. So I chose this book.

There was a town that called Hermelin and people who live in there worried about a lot of rat. The mayor also worried. Then a man came up to him and said that he will rid this town of every single rat. The mayor promised to pay 50000 if he does that. Next day, the man and a lot of man with pipe to their lips were disappeared mice by smoothing melody but the mayor didn’t give 5000 florin. So, the man was angry and made the get out of the children’s beds and go into the street by beautiful sounds. He led them in to a large cave and shut then into there.

After I read this book, I think that people must not easily tell a lie. Also I felt that we returned to oneself when we tell a lie. I know there is the thought not to have to tell a lie in all countries.

BR 2-09 The Little Mermaid

I read “The Little Mermaid”. I like the story of that, so I tried to read this story in English. I’m going to write a summary of this book now.

Long time ago, a little mermaid lived in the ocean. When she was old enough to go to the surface of the sea, she saw the most beautiful prince in the ship. She had fallen love. Then, she wanted to become human, so she went to the witch to ask for her help. The witch gave a potion that will make her human in return for her voice. She drank the potion and her tail had turned into two legs. After that, she and the prince met and they were inseparable. Although she loved the prince, he never loved her back in the same way. Soon, she heard the prince would marry the princess of another island. She tried to kill the prince and his wife, but she couldn’t. And she jumped into the sea, and she was no more.

I felt sad when I finished reading this, because I was very impressed by her love and a feeling for the prince. I want to be tender woman like the little mermaid.

BR 2-08 THE BOOKSTORE VALENTINE

I read “THE BOOKSTORE VALENTINE”. I read story of Valentine’s Day few days ago, and I want to read another story of Valentine’s Day. So I chose this book. I a going to write an summary of this book now.

Mr. Brown had the Black Cat Bookstore that sold only ghost books. He had a cat and ghosts too. (Finally, we know that the ghost are mice. ) One morning he started a sale, because Valentine’s Day is coming. He was busy all the day. He thought he needs help, so he put a sign in the window. The next morning, a woman was waiting outside. She saw the sign and would like the job. Mr. Brown employed her. They worked in friendship. At the end of the day, Mr. Brown’s cat her name is Cobweb thought they like each other. On Valentine’s Day morning, they thought to ask to dinner with a paper heart each other, but they couldn’t. Because they are shy. Cobweb saw it and thought that we can help. She had a plan. She walked over to Mr. Brown and she jumped onto a bookcase. Then they dropped a note in front of them. They picked up the notes. They both read them out loud: “Please have dinner with me tonight.” So they had dinner with Cobweb and mice happily.

I felt happy after I read this book. I thought Cobweb is clever and their cupid!! I was grad that they spend a good Valentine’s Day. I want to spend a good Valentine’s Day next year!!

BR 2-07 SMALL PIG

I read “SMALL PIG”. I think pig looks like me, and I have a close affinity with the book’s pig. So I chose this book. I am going to write an summary of this book now.

One small pig lives in a pigpen on a farm. The pig likes to sit down and sink down in mud the best. One day, the farmer’s wife cleans various places. Then she cleans the pigpen, and the small pig’s good and soft mud vanished too. The small pig is angry and he runs away. He looks for comfortable place for him, but can’t. He stuck in the sidewalk. The farmer and his wife know it and they go there. The firemen work and soon the small pig is free. They all drive home together. Just as they came to the farm, it is rain. So there is new mad. He sits down and sink down there.

I wonder why the small pig likes mud the best, because I think mud is dirty. I thought the things and the places that liked each person were different

BR 2-06 FLUFFY GOES APPLE PICKING

I read “FLUFFY GOES APPLE PICKING”. It is winter now, so apple’s season!! It is reason why I chose this book. I am going to make a summary of this book now.

Mr. Day’s class will go to apple picking tomorrow. Fluffy can go with them. He loves apples, so he is pleased. At the night, Fluffy could not fall asleep. For one thing, he was hungry because kiss ate Fluffy’s supper. And Kiss was snoring. Next day, Fluffy doesn’t look so good and sleepy. Then Fluffy watch Kiss picks apples. He thinks it is joking. Kiss ate apples like an apple-eating machine! Fluffy jumped ont and run for the basket of apples. The next instant, he banged into his food bawl. He was dreaming.

Ms. Day’s class rode to the Orchard. Everyone pick and eat apples. Fluffy also wants pick and eat apples early. Fluffy grabbed and pulled an apple. But nothing happened. All of sudden, Fluffy slipped out of Mr. Hill’s hand. Fluffy and the apple went flying. Fluffy landed in Ms. Day’s basket. Fluffy got an apple to eat. This is one fine picnic.

I didn’t know Fluffy loves apples. I’m grad that Fluffy could pick and eat an apple. After I read this book, I want to go to apple picking!

BR 2-05 FLUFFY'S VALENTINE'S DAY

I read “FLUFFY’S VALENTINE’S DAY”. I like Fluffy because he is cute. I care his Valentine’s Day, so I chose this book. I am going to make a summary of this book.

The kids make valentine boxes, so they checked to see if Fluffy’s food bawl was empty at lunch time. Then he thinks don’t like Valentine’s Day. But they made his valentine box. The box was written “WE LOVE YOU, FLUFFY!” by the kids. Fluffy likes valentine’s day.

Lina said Fluffy smells funny, so Emma and Jasmine decide to make Fluffy smell good for Valentine’s Day. Fluffy wiggled and squealed at first, but warm bath water made Fluffy feel warm all over. Finally, he thought he wants to take another bath tomorrow.

Ms. Day’s class invited Mr. Lee’s class to a Valentine’s Day party. Mr. Lee’s class brought a guinea pig named Kiss. Emma said “Maybe they will fall in love”. But Fluffy and Kiss didn’t fall in love.

I also like Valentine’s Day because some friends give me chocolates, cakes, cookies and so on. I‘m grad that Valentine’s Day is good for Fluffy. But I want that Fluffy and Kiss fall in love.

BR 2-04 FLUFFY GOES TO SCHOOL

I read “FLUFFY GOES TO SCHOOL” today. Fluffy is a guinea pig and very cute. So I think try to read this book.

In summary this book, Fluffy is the classroom guinea pig. The name decided by majority. However, Fluffy did not understand that it was his name so he looks for Fluffy. When he understands he is Fluffy, he cannot believe. Because he thinks he was big and strong. He is full of imagination. When one student put in a box, he pretended it was a police car and he was a policeman. Also, when put in a coconut shell, he pretended it was a boat and he was a captain. When put in a cardboard tube, he pretended it was a ship and he was a commander.

Fluffy’s imagination was interesting and great!! I want to guinea pig like Fluffy.

BR 2-03 The Gingerbread Boy

I read a book “The Gingerbread Boy”. The gingerbread boy is cute and I want to eat gingerbread, so I chose this book.

A little old man and woman lived in a little old house. They had no children. The woman wants a little boy, so she makes a little boy out of gingerbread. But when he’s cook, he jumps up and runs away. He shouts “You can’t catch me, I’m the gingerbread man!” He runs from a horse, a cow and a farmer. Then he meets a fox, he was all gone.

Before I read this book, I think that the gingerbread boy is good boy. But the gingerbread boy is a naughty boy actually!! I was surprise and little sad.

BR 2-02 The Teeny-Tiny Woman

I read “The Teeny-tiny Woman” today. I think “What is Teeny?”, so I chose this book. Teeny means “tippokena” in Japanese.

In summary this book, a teeny-tiny woman lived in a teeny tiny house. One day, the teeny-tiny woman went a teeny-tiny graveyard. She saw a teeny-tiny bone there. She think the bone will make soup for her supper and bring it back to her house. When she got home, she was sleepy. So she put the bone into a cabinet. A voice “Give me my bone!” woke up her. She felt scare, so she throw the bone over outside.

This book is interesting and the teeny-tiny woman is very cute. Then I think that we must not bring a bone back lightly.

BR 2-01 The Pizza That We Made

I read “The Pizza That We Made” today. I like pizza very much, so I chose this book.

In summary the book, Suzanne, Max and Jake makes pizza that they all make. First, They make dough. Second, they toss it down low and up high. They spread it in the pan and pour the sauce. Next, they chop the green things and the cheese goes on the top. Finally, they put it in the oven. During the pizza finish to bake, they are cleaning and the table is set. The pizza tastes so yummy. They all eat.

After read this book, I want to eat pizza. I have never cooked pizza, so I think that I cook pizza that I all make!!

BR 1-14 Little Red Riding Hood

I read “Little Red Riding Hood” today. I know this Japanese book and I want read this English book. So I decided to read it.

This story has a little red Riding Hood, her grand mother, a wolf and a woodcutter. One day, a little red Riding Hood was going to take a pot of vegetable soup, but wolf aim at her. The wolf went her grand mother’s house and ate her grand mother before she comes. And the wolf disguised her grand mother. When she arrived there, she thought strange her grand mother so she asked some question. Finally, she asked “What big sharp teeth you have.” Then a wolf ate her. A woodcutter thought strange there because a wolf’s snore was loudly. He snipped open the wolf’s tummy. Then, a little red Riding Hood and her mother popped out. The woodcutter put a lot of stone in the wolf’s tummy. After that, everyone can here the wolf coming, because the rattled inside him!

I think that this book is different from Japanese “Little Red Riding Hood”, “Akazukin”. The wolf dropped down the pond in “Akazukin”. I think it is interesting to different this way.

BR 1-13 The ENORMOUS TURNIP

I read “The ENORMOUS TURNIP” today. I liked this book, when I was child. I want to read again, so I chose it.

This story has a farmer, his wife, their son, a dog, a cat, a bird, and an enormous turnip. One day, the farmer went his field to picking a turnip. He saw a big turnip, so he thought that he pick this one. He tugged at the turnip, but it did not move. So his wife helped. But it did not move. After that, his children, a dog and a cat helped the farmer and his wife, but it did not move. Next, a bird helped them and the turnip began to move very slowly. At last, the turnip popped out!! They ate the turnip soup every day for a month.

This book is very interesting to me because the farmer said “Next year, I’m growing carrots”. We think an enormous vegetable is good, but it is not so good for the people who eating the enormous vegetable.

BR 1-12 Hansel & Gretel

I also read “Hansel & Gretel” today. I like story of Hansel & Gretel So I chose this book.

Hansel and Gretel has their father and stepmother. They were poor so stepmother thought that they will leave Hansel and Gretel into the forest. That night, Hansel collected as many as he could and stuffed white pebbles into his pockets. Next morning, they were taken somewhere and left there by their stepmother and father. But Hansel dropped pebbles, one by one, behind him so they could go back home. Another day, they were taken somewhere and left there by their stepmother and father again. This time, Hansel dropped piece of bread. But the bread was eaten by blackbird so they could not go back home. They walked in the forest. Then, they found a little house which made of sweets. A witch was living there and she tried to eat them. But Hansel and Gretel escaped by their wisdom. And they live happy with their father since that.

I read this book and I think Hansel has good wisdom. And I felt that family affection is important.

I read “Losing Lucky” today. I like rabbits and I think a boy who is main character in this book looks sad. So I chose this book.

This story is a boy, Mouse and a bunny, Lucky. Lucky came hopping up to see Mouse every day. But one day, Lucky just lay in his hutch. Lucky has died. Mouse could not believe it. Mouse, Jojo and their mother put Lucky in the box. And Mouse put all the things Lucky liked in the box. Then, their father dug a hole in the garden and they put Lucky in the hole. They were loosing Lucky so they were crying. That night, Mouse had a dream of Lucky. In the dream, Lucky could talk and hopped up into the sky. So he felt happy.

All living thing die some day. I read this book and I think we have to cherish all living thing.

BR 1-10 A Day in London

I read “A Day in London” today. I want to go to London so I chose this book.

This story is Gran went to London with Kipper, Biff, Chip, Nadim and Anneena. They went to Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace and took a boat. In addition, they go to the Waxworks. Gran knocked into the Royal family waxworks and it began to fall over. Then they ware expelled. They had interesting adventure!!

I read this book, I want to go London more!! But I want to knock into the waxworks and it began to fall over. I think if I go to London, I watch out it!!

BR 1-09 Goldilocks and the Three Bears

I read “Goldilocks and the Three Bears”. When I looked this book, I think what is Goldilocks? So, I chose this book.

Goldilocks was not good girl because she liked to do something naughty everyday. One day, she saw a pretty little house. She ate a meal, sit a chair and was asleep. But the house is three bear’s!! She did not know it. So she is surprised and screamed when she woke up und looked at the three bears.

I read this book and I think this story is fun! She surprised when she looked up three bears. So I think that she always play up, she is child still. I yearn for my infancy!!
