• I think essay 2-03 is the most improvement of the three essays There are two reason. One is that I changed the title. So I think that essay 2-03b became catchy. The other reason that I divided paragraph in detail, so I think that essay 2-03b is easier than before.

BR 2-14 The Ant and the Grasshopper

I read “The Ant and the Grasshopper”. I have read before, but I want to read again. So I chose this book. I am going to write an summary of this book now.

Long time ago, there was a grasshopper who liked to sing and play. Also there was an ant who was very hard worker. One day, the grasshopper said the ant to come and play with me. But the answered “no”, because he had to prepare for winter. When winter came, the grasshopper had no food because he had been playing all summer. On the other hand, the ant rested comfortably in their homes with all the foods they need.

After I read it, I think that working hard is very important for our life. If we want to rest comfortably later, we should work hard.

snow!!

January 13th Wednesday, it was very cold day. But it was so happy day for me because it was snowing. I wake up early by my mother’s voice. My mother news me it was snowing. I opened my room curtain. Then I could see snow scene everywhere. I was surprised and feel cold. When I went to KGU in the morning, I was careful to watch my step. However I felt down from my bicycle. I felt very very ashamed. And a train which I intended to take was late.

I love snow but I don’t like cold temperature. I want that it is getting warmer more.

December 24

December 24 was Christmas Eve, so we had Christmas party in bakery in KGU. After Reading class, Yui and I went to down town. We bought a lot of snacks in Donkihote. We backed KGU and started Christmas party. We enjoyed eating a lot of snacks and chatting. This picture is the Christmas party in bakery.

After that, we had Speaking class. We presented some snacks to Mr. Waterman. He was ready to receive, so we were happy. Speaking class was very fun for me. We heard 2 Christmas songs, “Last Christmas” and “All I want for Christmas is you”. I like those songs so I had good time last class.

job!!

I am going to write about my job now.

First, I talk about my part-time job. I worked at Sobano in youmetown Hikarinomori. Sobano is specialty soba restaurant. I have worked there when I entered KGU. The reason why I chose there is that my high school’s senior invited me and Sobano’s uniform is unusual.
Sobano’s uniform is like a Japanese kimono. I am ashamed when I am wearing it but I like it. I usually work 4 days a week. I almost have classes until the fifth period and the club activity, so I don’t have enough time to work now.

Next, I talk about my future job. I want to be a cabin attendant or a grand staff. I dreamed of being it since I was a child. I especially want to be an ANA’s cabin attendant. When it says why ANA is good for me, the reason is because a uniform is pretty. This is the ANA’s uniform. It is cool and pretty, isn’t it?? In addition, the reason is because I sympathized with management policies of ANA. I go to Washington institute of language now to grant this dream. It is hard to be compatible with KGU. But I do my best to become a cabin attendant.

Cellular phone users should..

I think that cellular phone users should think about others when they use their phones in public. I am going to write about the reasons.

I go to school by train every morning. I often find many people use their cellular phones in the train. They send e-mail, listen to music and call on someone. I think that cellular phone users should think use of cellular phone in public. I do not think that they must not use cellular phone but I think need concern for other people because publics are used by many people. For example, they should lower the volume of music when they listen to music wearing earphone. I sometimes hear music over the earphone. Many people feel so good so they should lower the volume of music. In addition, cellular phone users should refrain from calling in public because it is difficult to keep their voice down when they talk by cellular phone. They annoy other people with this act so I think that they should refrain from calling in public. However, I think that send e-mail in public is not so bad because send e-mail is not make noise. They are careful of a call signal with melodies instead. I think that cellular phone users may use their cellular phones if they do not take the act that exhibits a lack of concern for other people in this way.

I wrote the opinion when I was a first grade students. I don't change this opinion still now.

William Bradley Pitt

I am going to write biography about William Bradley Pitt.

William Bradley Pitt is a famous American actor. He was born in 1963 in Oklahoma, America. In 1975, He attended Kickapoo High School, where he excelled; he was a member of the golf, tennis and swimming teams, as well as the Key and Forensics clubs. He also participated in school debates and musicals. Three years later, he entered university of Missouri. After he dropped out of this university and moved to Los Angels, California to take acting lessons. In 1986, he appeared on television program “Dallas” for the first time. Two years later, he received his first film role in “The Dark Side of the Sun”, where he played a young American taken by his family to the Adriatic to find a remedy for a skin condition. A few years later, he attracted broader public attention from a supporting role in “Thelma & Louise”. From 1992, he began to active as matinee idol in “River runs throw it”, “Interview with Vampire”, “Legend of fall” and so on. In 1995, He starred “Se7en” and “Twelve Monkeys” for which he won a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor. Between 1999 and 2007, he achieved fame in “Fight Club”, as Rusty Ryan in “Ocean's Eleven”, its sequels “Ocean's Twelve” and “Ocean's Thirteen”. A few years later, He has had his biggest commercial successes with “Spy Game”, “Troy”, “Mr. & Mrs. Smith”, and “Burn After Reading”. In 2005, he was married to Angelina Jolie and he became the father of two children-in-law. The next year, his wife gave birth to a girl. He leads a full life solid officially and privately.

Mao Asada

I am going to describe to Mao Asada now.

She is eighteen years old and she goes to Tyukyo high school. She is still young but Japanese famous figure skater. She was born in Nagoya, Aichi. She originally started out studying ballet, but later switched to skating in 1995 when her sister, Mai Asada also switched from ballet to figure skating. She has much improved in skating. She landed her first triple axel jump at the age of 12, and she became the first lady to perform a triple-triple-triple. She comes to fame in the Japanese Championships when she was sixth grade. Afterward, she won the World Championships, the Four Continent championships and the Japanese Championships. Especially, she won Japanese Championships no less than three times. She is going to full activity over the world. I expect more her action.

BR 2-13 The Sun and the Wind

I read “The Sun and the Wind”. I like this story and recommend to children. I want to read this in English for my children when I become mother. So I tried to read this.

Long time ago, the sun and the wind were arguing about which was stronger. They decided that whoever could take off a traveler’s coat was the strongest. The wind was first and he blew an icy wind at the traveler. However traveler only snuggled deeper into his coat. Next was the sun. He was warming and lighting and glory. Soon the traveler took off his coat and the sun won.

After I read it, I think that the book was interesting afresh because I cannot generate idea that the sun and the wind were arguing. I think that Aesop who written by it was a genius in fairy tale.

BR 2-12 Icarus

I read “Icarus”. I had heard he name, but I didn’t know what he did. So I chose this book. I am going to write a summary of this book now.

There lived a man named Daedalus in the island of Crete. One day, Daedalus had angered King Minos because he had told the king’s daughter the secret to the Labyrinth. The king locked him with his son, Icarus. The island is difficult to leave because the king watches the sea. Daedalus made two beautiful sets of wings. They could fly easily by the wings. However these wings are machines and so they can break and the heat of thesun will melt the wax. So Daedalus advised Icarus but he forgot his father’s word quickly. Next day, Daedalus and Icarus flew out of the Labyrinth. Icarus flew higher, so he wax in his wings began to melt. A few minute later, he felt the sea.

After I read it, I think that we have to hear whatever person advised for us, or we can succeed. I don’t want to be like Icarus.

class reunion

After a coming-of-age celebration, I went to youme town and I showed my coworker to my figure of kimono. Then I back home and prepared for a class reunion of junior high school. I was an organizer, so I went to early and prepared. About 60 over people joined that, so I was grad very much. I enjoyed drinking and chatting with my schoolmate and my teachers very much.

After that, about 30 people went to post-party party. We went Ninjya Yashiki. We enjoyed very much. I didn’t meet my schoolmate long time no see but they weren’t change and we still have good relationships. I want to meet them again in the near future.

a coming-of-age celebration

January 11 was Coming of Age Day. I attended a coming-of-age celebration was held in Kumamoto city. I looked forward to the ceremony very much.

I woke up early because I had to go beauty salon to set my hair and put on Kimono. First, I had set my hair and made up my face. My hair style likes Anmitsu princess. I used ornamental hairpin which used my mother when she attended her coming-of-age celebration. After that, I had put on my Kimono. My kimono is red and tie-dyeing. My grand mother and father bought me that. I like it very much.

I finished the preparing for the coming-of-age celebration and I went to my friend house. The friend name is Kahori. We have been good friend since we are junior high school. I went to the celebration place with her and her boy friend, Shohei. When we arrived the celebration place, there is a lot of people. I could meet a lot of my friends and I took many pictures with my friends. They were very beautiful and cool. I was very glad to see a lot of friends long time no see. I think that the day was Memorial Day for me.

BR 2-11 Brer Rabbit and the Tar Baby

I read “Brer Rabbit and the Tar Baby”. I am going to write an summary of this book now.

Once upon a time, there was a fox and a rabbit. The fox was always trying to catch the rabbit. One day, the fox made figure of tar. When the rabbit saw the figure of tar, he talks to that. However the figure of tar did not say word. So the rabbit was angry and punched the figure of tar in the face and his paw sank into the tar. The fox appeared and tried to roast the rabbit. The rabbit said that do anything you want but please just don’t throw him into the briar patch. But the fox wanted to cause as much pain as he could to the rabbit, so he threw the rabbit into the briar patch. But the rabbit was born in the briar patch, so he was indifferent.

After read the book, I think that when people try to hurt anyone, they cannot succeed. If there was any kind of reason, I think people do not have to hurt.

My name is Ann. I am from Canada of North America. I am 24 years old. My occupation is TV announcer and I am working at a local TV station. I appear on morning and evening news every day. December 7, Shiori, Yui and Haruna came to my house. First, we went to dinner at Kaiodo. This restaurant is very delicious. After that, we rent DVDs at Tsutaya and went my house. We enjoyed talking and drinking. We spent a good time. This member is very interesting.

BR 2-10 The Pied Piper of Hermelin

I read book which title is “The Pied Piper of Hermelin”. I have heard it title but I didn’t know the story. So I chose this book.

There was a town that called Hermelin and people who live in there worried about a lot of rat. The mayor also worried. Then a man came up to him and said that he will rid this town of every single rat. The mayor promised to pay 50000 if he does that. Next day, the man and a lot of man with pipe to their lips were disappeared mice by smoothing melody but the mayor didn’t give 5000 florin. So, the man was angry and made the get out of the children’s beds and go into the street by beautiful sounds. He led them in to a large cave and shut then into there.

After I read this book, I think that people must not easily tell a lie. Also I felt that we returned to oneself when we tell a lie. I know there is the thought not to have to tell a lie in all countries.

BR 2-09 The Little Mermaid

I read “The Little Mermaid”. I like the story of that, so I tried to read this story in English. I’m going to write a summary of this book now.

Long time ago, a little mermaid lived in the ocean. When she was old enough to go to the surface of the sea, she saw the most beautiful prince in the ship. She had fallen love. Then, she wanted to become human, so she went to the witch to ask for her help. The witch gave a potion that will make her human in return for her voice. She drank the potion and her tail had turned into two legs. After that, she and the prince met and they were inseparable. Although she loved the prince, he never loved her back in the same way. Soon, she heard the prince would marry the princess of another island. She tried to kill the prince and his wife, but she couldn’t. And she jumped into the sea, and she was no more.

I felt sad when I finished reading this, because I was very impressed by her love and a feeling for the prince. I want to be tender woman like the little mermaid.

In Japan, a funeral service attracts attention by influence of "Okuribito" which won Academy Award. Therefore I decided to examine how people hold a funeral service in New Zealand. In addition, there is a native called "Maori" in New Zealand. I will to examine it how Maori hold a funeral service.

2. In Kumamoto
In Japan, people hold a funeral service based on religion or the denomination which the deceased believed in. Many people do not believe in a particular religion recently. In such a case, we hold a funeral service in religion of the deceased's birthplace or the spouse and irreligion.

In general, the body is placed in a coffin on the day the person died and a wake is held on the next day. People hold a funeral service on the follows day. However, it is common not to hold a funeral service from the superstition why a dead person invites friends to in "the special day that carries events in its trail". If the next day is "the special day that carries events in its trail", a temporary wake is held on the next day. Then a wake is held on the next day and funeral is on three days later. In addition, the body is cremated in Japan.

When people attend a funeral service, they wear black clothes which are called mourning. And people take “Kouden”.

3. In NZ
In New Zealand, people have an undertaker who manages a normal funeral service. The person in charge of the funeral attaches the death certificate of the doctor from a funeral service within three days and sends the notice of death to birth, the death and the marriage registry office of the Department of the Interior. About the progress of the expression, people choosing a way of oneself style increase not a formalthing recently. When people ask the undertaker, in deference to the intention of the family and the undertaker help with original program.

There is not the Japanese wake and the ceremony is performed by a personal denomination. In recent years, cremation is common. About scattering, regulation is different by each city. In Wellington of the capital, people may scatter ashes in a park and a graveyard where the city appoints. In Christchurch, people may scatter ashes anywhere if there is within the common sense. In addition, people can plant a tree where that Christchurch appoints if they pay 10 dollars. There are a lot of extensive graveyards such as the big park in New Zealand. Therefore there is a case that family attend the scatter ashes and ask the staff of the graveyard for it when people scatter ashes in the graveyard. People are only scattering unless the family plans a song, speech and music performance. After the funeral service, relative gather attendants and hold a small party that is called “Wake”.

When people attend a funeral service, it is not necessary for people to wear black. However it is common to put on as simple as possible and refrain accessories. There is not the system such as the "Kouden" too. But people attach a message which wrote a memory with the deceased and words of condolence to a relative, and give flowers.

In the case of Maori, the corpse is carried to Marae which is an assembly room of the Maori when people die. Marae is a very holy place for Maori. Not only funeral service but also wedding ceremony and the tribal meetings are held. A wing is wreathed to the hair, and clothes of the Maori are worn the carried corpse. Maori believes that people should not keep deceased alone until corpse is buried. Therefore somebody is beside the corpse certainly. At the funeral service, family and friends do not hide sorrow, crying a loud. People think this is in order to show deceased respect and softening the family's sorrow. In addition, Maori believes in a posthumous world. Therefore it is believed that people can leave for the posthumous after burying the corpse in the ancestral idle same grave. People think that the soul meets ancestors again and can meet the soul of the descendant again there in the future.

4. Conclusion
Population of New Zealand has only one thirties of that of Japan but it is the country which full of the variety such people who have different cultures and customs live. Therefore funeral services show thought to respect difference and recognize free thought and action.
